Pelican Gunworks Shop Policy
Compliance with Federal and Local Laws
At Pelican Gunwork all Gunsmithing is done in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws for Slidell Louisiana. Even though Louisiana is firearms friendly state we do get some work from out of state. It is the customers responsibility to contact the appropriate state and local law enforcement agencies to confirm that the modifications and/or accessories being purchased are legal to possess at their state of residence.
Privacy
All records are collected and maintained in compliance with ATF regulations. These regulations require the collection of information about the customer and the firearm being serviced or transferred. Pelican Gunworks will not disclose your personal information, Unless a crime has been committed and law enforcement has gone through proper channels to request or obtain information.
Warranty
We stand behind all of our work and will make every reasonable effort to ensure customer satisfaction. Pelican Gunworks purchases new OEM parts for all repairs and modifications from trusted and reputable suppliers and manufacturers. In the event one of these parts fails due to defect in manufacture, We will try our best to assist in resolving the issue with the manufacturer. Used parts will only be employed if item was discontinued or no longer manufactured, and they will be carefully inspected by Pelican Gunworks. Parts supplied by the customer must be of high quality, appropriate for the application, and are not warranted by Pelican Gunworks . Please be aware that modification of any firearm to specifications other than those of original manufacture will generally void the manufacturer’s warranty
Shipping Firearms
We do offer shipping and receiving services.
Firearms shipping requirements:
- Please be sure firearms is UNLOADED AND NO AMMUNITION IS ANYWHERE NEAR FIREARM. We prefer ammo that is being shipped with firearms is in a separate, secured, and sealed box away from firearms. Staff and customer safety is paramount.
- Make arrangements with shop, store or etc. Check to see if they are able to take transfers and provide a Federal Firearms License. After information is provided Pelican Gunworks will make contact with receiving point to ensure company is a Legitimate business.
- All shipments are processed through UPS unless customer request different company. Increase in surcharge may occur. When all parameters above is satisfied, We will proceed with working with our client on packaging, weighing, estimating shipping time, insurance, and cost allocation. We will provide both parties tracking numbers.
- Be sure to inform Pelican Gunworks you have a firearm being sent in. "Even if we don't answer the phone just leave a voice message, text, email or etc" Its good practice to keep us in the loop.
- All incoming transfer requires customer contact information form attached to package. Buyer is the only person that can proceed in background check and transfer process. If no contact info is provided it is the customer's responsibility to provide the proper documentation to proceed with obtaining firearm. In the event that parameters stated have not been met we will proceed with gunsmithing/repairs pick up policy. Please refer below.
- After firearms is received please allow us time to check firearm in our system per ATF guidelines. We will give you a call to come start the background check process to obtain your firearms.
- During background check process “HOLD” or “DELAY” status may occur. the FBI NCIS check will provide us with a date for you return to complete transfer.
Gunsmithing/Repairs pick up Policy
Gunsmithing, repairs and parts installation . Same person that drops off firearm is the same person that picks it up. No exceptions! Once notified that the firearm is completed, firearms owner has 30 days to pick up firearm. On the 31st day $10 a day storage fee will be applied to firearm until picked up. When storage fees exceed the book value of the firearm or cost of labor, the firearm will be “considered abandoned” and absorbed into inventory for resale to satisfy all outstanding fees allocated with no benefit to original owner. Pelican Gunworks reserve the right to cancel or refuse any Firearms Transfer at our discretion or if we feel illegal activity is being conducted. Illegal activity is reported to the ATF & Local Law Enforcement Agencies.
